Chakras are energy points located at different points starting at the base of our spine leading up into the top of our head (crowns). Each point houses different areas of life that when balanced, work together to give us the healthiest, highest, and most aligned functions for maneuvering through life. Most people you see in everyday society who operate on high frequencies such as celebrities, people of high power, and people who have impact know the importance of being highly connected in the mind body and spirit and are either disciplined over them all, or are connected to other individual they can pay to do so. One of them not talked about often is the hiring of spiritual healers and “seers” to be connected and give spiritual and astrological guidance. This post is not to suggest or persuade the reader to hire or indulge in any of these things, but rather encourage you that you can be your own advisor of your mind body and spirit makeup. True self-love looks like tending to your spiritual needs and prioritizing them.
One of the best ways to do this is to be aligned in your chakra system, so we have dedicated this blog post to give you some simple education, encourage you to do your own research, and to give your own guide on how to do this in your personal time and practice. We’ve also begun our “Self Love & Your Chakras,” virtual series including a mini info session and breath-work meditation geared to each chakra, along with a few yoga poses. Right now we’re focused on the Solar Plexus. You can get your physical practice on at your leisure once you’ve completed this read. (Or feel free to roam now). The heart chakra meditation releases mid August.
Let’s start at the ROOT. The root chakra is located at the base of our spine (tailbone) and is associated with the color red. In this energy house our stability, connection to money, and ability to trust ourselves and others are a few of the things that are highlighted. Keeping this chakra open and balanced creates firmer boundaries, promotes self empowerment and validation, and builds a heightened sense of identity. If you’re in a place where you’re feeling unstable, want to be more firm in what you will accept, or overall feel your connection to money could be enhanced, the root chakra is a great place to begin doing work. You can begin virtually with our “Getting to the Root,” session and/or start with these shadow-work journaling prompts:
Which of my habits enhance my overall stability? Which habits are counterproductive to my overall stability? Where can I make more room for grounding and creating structure? Am I comfortable expressing my boundaries as they are without sugarcoating my needs or having anxiety about how they will be received?
Now let’s flow into the SACRAL. The sacral chakra is located in our lower abdomen around our navel region and is associated with the color orange. This sacral chakra houses our relationship to sex, self-confidence, sensuality, passion, and even our ability to experience the fullness of joy. We like to call the sacral the “water” of the chakras, for when it is open and balanced, things feel like they’re flowing with ease, and there’s a sense of joy that is fueling your passions. Benefits of a healthy sacral charka are a heightened sense of creativity and self worth, healthy sexual and intimate relationships, and freedom from shame and fear. If you’re trying to tap more into your creative side, want to dive into your authentic passions and purpose, or want a healthier relationship to sex, the sacral chakra is a great chakra to do work in. You can begin virtually with “Flowing in the Sacral,” and/or begin with these shadow-work journaling prompts:
Do I feel safe in my body at all times? Do I experience any shame behind the way that I express myself sexually? How can I take the limits off the way that I express myself creatively? How can I validate myself and cultivate more self-confidence on a daily basis? What does self-talk look and feel like in my daily life?
Now it’s time to illuminate the SOLAR PLEXUS. The solar plexus is located under the sternum bone in our belly region and is associated with the color yellow. The solar plexus houses our ability to show up fully, self-confidence, perseverance, and self-control. When the solar plexus is open and balanced you may feel empowered to take initiative, feel more disciplined, and feel the desire to be more consistent over the habits that are healthy and usher in abundance. The solar plexus and sacral chakras often mesh together and when both are balanced and healthy, give a very abundant and fulfilling sense of tackling life in the physical. If you’re struggling with staying focused or are trying to break cycles and get out of creative ruts, this is a great chakra to work in. Join in on the “Illuminating the Solar Plexus,” portion of our “Self Love & your Chakras Series,” and/or begin with these shadow-work journaling prompts:
Where am I experiencing fear behind showing up for myself? Where or what is my security blanket? Does using this blanket or coping mechanisms grow my ability to take action or hinder me? What do I put off or avoid out of anxiousness or feelings of inadequacy?
Next lets focus on Matters of the HEART Chakra. The Heart Chakra is located in the physical space of the heart and is associated with the color green. The heart chakra houses our ability to forgive, give and receive unconditional love, our ability to connect and trust, and our most authentic desires. When the heart chakra is balanced and open we’re able to love without attachment, not hold on too heavy to things or take things personally, and to forgive with ease. Healing the heart frees us from showing up in ways we think will be accepted and allows us to show up authentically based on our deepest desires. If you struggle with healthy relationships, people pleasing, or expressing yourself without fear or shame this is a great chakra to do work in. The Heart Chakra session of our “Self Love & Your Chakras,” Series releases mid-August. Here are some shadow-work journaling prompts:
Am I giving myself the same energy that I give to others? Do I love myself as hard as I love those around me? How hard is it for me to forgive? Is there anyone including myself that I can forgive in this present moment? Am I loving from a place of fullness or lack? Am I comfortable expressing my truest and most authentic desires?
Let’s clear up that THROAT chakra. The throat charka is located in the physical space of the throat and is associated with the color blue. The throat chakra houses our ability to speak our truth, advocate for ourselves, and our ability to courageously articulate. When the throat chakra is balanced and open we feel less shame behind saying what we need to say and exactly how we need to say it, we fall in love with speaking authentically, and we no longer feel the need to hide ourselves. If you struggle with speaking up and speaking out, the throat chakra is a great chakra to do work in. The throat chakra session of our “Self-Love & Your Chakras,” series releases mid-September. Here are some shadow-work journaling prompts geared to the throat chakra:
Is there anything I am feeling that I don’t feel comfortable vocalizing? How often do I speak and hear my desires and how often do I express them to others? Do I feel safe advocating for myself when needed? When I hear the sound of my voice, how does my body respond?
Moving on into the THIRD EYE. The third eye is located in the forehead region (in between the eyebrows) and is associated with the color indigo. The third-eye houses our inner wisdom, connection to our intuition, and our ability to implement the knowledge we receive intuitively and from the divine. When the third eye is balanced and open we have clearer thoughts, seek truth over comfort, and trust our gut feelings. If you struggle with scatter brain, have a hard time identifying your intuition, or lack inspiration, the third eye is a great chakra to work in. The third eye session of our “Self-Love & Your Chakras,” series releases mid October. Here are some shadow-work journaling prompts geared to the third eye:
Can I differentiate between my anxious thoughts/feelings and my intuition? Do I feel capable of making sound and wise decisions? Am I comfortable listening to my highest self vs my voice of comfortability? How can I practice good spiritual hygiene? Do I implement what I feel I am sure of?
Lastly, we’re fixing our CROWNS. The crown chakra is located at the top of our head and is associated with the color violet. The crown chakra houses our spiritual connection to the divine, our thought processes and beliefs, and our ability to identify as being made in God’s image. When the crown chakra is open and balanced we hear clearly, our spiritual senses are heightened, and we’re able to safely operate using our spiritual gifts. If you could use clearer thought processes, a spiritual tune up, and rid yourself of limiting belief systems, the crown chakra is a great chakra to work in. The “Fixing Your Crown,” session of our “Self Love & Your Chakras,” series releases mid November. Here are some shadow-work journaling prompts geared to the crown chakra:
What does my communication with my higher power and higher self look like? Do I trust my intuitive nudges and inclinations? Do my belief systems mirror the person and lifestyle I sense to be authentic and the most healthy for me? How often do I practice introspection in order to test my history of decision making and ,my ability to trust my gut?
When doing work in the chakras it is highly recommended to work in one chakra at a time and for at LEAST 1-2 weeks at a time. If a month can be set aside for said chakra, do so, but this is an individual practice and is ultimately based on your own personal time schedule and needs. You should work in each chakra as long as your intuition, spiritual advisor, highest self may tell you.
