Self-Love and Fall Equinox

Date Written: September 18th, 2023.

Summer Solstice had us in warmth and bliss, feeling free-spirited and ready to take risk. Fall Equinox is ushering in the feels of wanting to be more intimate, more shifts in the weather, and a sense of wanting to pull back and isolate. A lot of us may experience seasonal depression during this time and/or feel pulled to really analyze the “why” and purpose in our lives. (We have a post to help with seasonal depression here.) Though it may be easy to fall into these hermit vibes of the season, Fall is actually a beautiful time to plant and harvest due to the energy being so calm. This goes for the physical, mental and spiritual, and hence why we’ve created this blog post. We want to help you shift with the ups and downs in our climate, as well as the natural experiences of what we call, “life.”

Here are 4 practices to implement over Fall Equinox to assist you with being flexible, staying self-motivated, and taking things with stride and ease:

  • Start your day with a movement practice. This can be as small as washing the dishes to extensive of yoga, jogging, hitting the gym. Allowing your body and mind to fully wake up and start with some type of productivity is great for self-motivation and creating a balanced day. Affirm: “Today, I give myself permission to move in productivity and a clear mind.”
  • Spend time doing things that nurture you/your inner child. This can look like painting, writing, spending time with family, giving back to community, or engaging in philanthropy work. Go out into nature and express gratitude for it. This helps us keep our emotions balanced and enables our ability to make sound decisions, should we have to shift with the times. Affirm: “I allow my inner-child to be expressive and free.”
  • Practice forgiveness over and over again. If you know you are the type of person who has the tendency to hold onto sh*t, you’re going to want to make sure you don’t get sat on with this shift. Make forgiveness apart of your daily prayer or mantra. Start by finding the things you are grateful for, big and small, and allow yourself to forgive yourself first and foremost, and then those around you. Now is not the time to take things personally. Fall is the time to be cozy so if not cautious, we can get cozy in our feels and get stuck in the heaviness of it all. Let’s learn from nature and let things fall off our shoulders like the leaves on the trees. Affirm: “I allow my heart and my mind to stay light and my spirit to flow like water.”
  • End your day in ritual, stillness and/or prayer. Normally we’d recommended this at the start of the day but being that these practices sometimes tend to cause emotions to come up or a more restful feel in the body, it could be more beneficial to do closer to bed. This makes room for a better quality of sleep and rested mind. This is also a great way to let go of the day, allows your sleep to be rejuvenating, and calls for a fresh new start upon your next wakeup. Affirm: “I allow my higher power to provide comfort and peace for me at all times.”

We’d like for you to think of shifts in life as the seasons. We will go through phases and if you can shift in mind, body, and spirit along with nature itself, you can maneuver through life with more balance and ultimately feel more fulfilled. Try implementing 1-2 or all of the practices above over the next three months and see how the quality of your days shift.

We’ve got the “Self-Love & Your Chakras,” meditation series to assist you with breath-work practices while you shift. The heart chakra and throat chakra practices are good ones to implement during this time. Also stream the throat chakra and heart chakra playlist via TIDAL.

We have part 1 of the Fall Equinox Reset playlist here for your autumn needs as well! Why TIDAL? Read here.
